World Class Fish Finder Technology

What’s the fun in a day on the water if you don’t catch anything? Your chances of fishing success are much increased with a Furuno fish finder. The oldest and still the best, Furuno technology informs the fishing activity of thousands of boat anglers across the globe every day, with advanced technology making finish finding easier today than ever before.

Furuno has been developing and manufacturing world-class fish sounders for more than 70 years and is still today considered one of the leading international brands by recreational and commercial fishers alike.

The Benefits of Furuno Marine Technology

Finding the fish is the name of the game. Furuno’s advanced technology is undisputedly one of the best at finding fish, even going so far as identifying specific species. The benefits of Furuno 588 marine electronic systems range far and wide, as evidenced by its remarkable uptake in the international market.

  • All the information you need at a glance: Furuno’s new generation of 588 fish finders provides crystal clear imaging via its new RezBoost signal processing technology. The all-new Bottom Discrimination function allows you to see the bottom form better than ever. It offers four types of graphical display, allowing you clearly distinguish between rock, sand, gravel, and mud. The Accu-Fish function even helps with species identification, while a white line feature indicates fish lying on or near the ocean floor. A day and night screen makes it easy to read your screen regardless of light conditions.
  • Transducer compatibility: The system is available with a wide variety of biducer and triducer options, allowing you to record more information like depth, speed, and water temperature simultaneously. This information all contributes to your fishing success by informing, for instance, the speed at which you need to travel to intercept a school of fish.
  • GPS Integration: The system can be interfaced with your GPS location and autopilot system, so you can easily plot routes and mark fishing spots for your next fishing trip. By building up a history of plotted routes and fishing spots, you can more successfully gauge where the fish are likely to be.

Get the Most Out of Your Furuno System

Furuno sonar systems are renowned the world over for being feature-rich and user friendly. A few simple set-up steps will ensure that your system is optimally configured for your application and the area where you’re fishing. The intuitive user interface makes this an easy, hassle-free exercise completed within minutes.

  • Set Frequency: The first thing you want to do is set your frequency. The 588 can handle both high and low frequencies, or both simultaneously, depending on the transducer you have installed. Set the frequency according to your transducer to either high, low, or dual frequency. Depending on your setting, you may need to upgrade to the Furuno 295, which can handle two 1Kw transducers.
  • Set Gain: Setting your gain between 4.5 at night and 6.0 during the day should give you a near-perfect display, which effectively cancels out noise or clutter without affecting the device’s ability to find and identify fish and detect the contour and type of bottom material.
  • Set Range: You can set the 588’s range to either automatic or manual. We recommend switching to manual only once you are familiar with the area where you’re fishing. If you know the depth of your fishing spot and it is relatively consistent, you can get into manual settings. We recommend fishing on auto to make life easier, letting the Furuno detect the depth and display it on the screen accordingly. The above are the most important stings to worry about. Other settings such as display colour have more to do with personal preference than efficient fishing.
