Description
The SR500 SART is a self-contained, waterproof rescue beacon that transmits an Automatic Identification System (AIS) distress signal upon activation in an emergency. The transmitted signal contains the position of the device, which can be detected by any AIS-equipped vessel in range.
The SR500 SART transmits a 1 Watt AIS message over VHF Channels 1 & 2 and features an integrated GPS receiver to provide accurate location information, which is included in the AIS transmission.
When received, the AIS transmission is translated and displayed on a chart plotter, allowing potential rescuers to quickly and easily locate the beacon. This distress message is transmitted every 1 minute for a minimum period of 96 hours.
The SR500 SART also features a high intensity LED light which flashes Morse Code “SOS” every 30 seconds.
